About Ron Mortensen
Ron Mortensen
Ron Mortensen is a citizen who has spent his life in the service of his fellow citizens to ensure that America remains free and her people prosperous.
Ron is the most qualified candidate running for Senate District 23. He has a Ph.D. in Political Science. He served in the United States Air Force and has over twenty years of continuing service to our nation as a diplomat. During the past five years he has been deployed by the U.S. government on humanitarian assignments to Iraq, Darfur; Beirut, Lebanon for the Israeli-Hezbollah conflict; and to Ethiopia for famine relief. He has fought for years to control government spending, taxes, and to protect our children from illegal alien driven identity theft. During the most recent legislative session he fought for our interests as a full-time, unpaid citizen lobbyist. To find out more about Ron's work on Tax Fairness and Identity Theft click here.
Why Should I Vote for Ron Mortensen?
The job of Utah Senator is a difficult one. In a short, 45-day session a Senator will have to analyze and vote on hundreds of bills. Your Senator must be someone who will be guided by strongly-held, core principles when examining and voting on issues. He must understand how the legislature works and be able to stand up against powerful legislative leaders and extremely influential lobbyists.
Ron is a man of principle and he has first-hand experience on how the legislature works - the good, the bad, and the ugly. If you are doubtful, look at his record. He is the only candidate who has signed a pledge not to raise your taxes, who has refused to take special interest money to help pay for his campaign and who spent the full 2008 legislative session as an unpaid, citizen lobbyist advocating for your interests.
As Representative Chris Herrod said, "Ron Mortensen is already well respected on Capitol Hill and will have instant credibility as Utah State Senator. He will represent the people and 'gets' the tax and illegal immigration challenges that so many others fail to understand." Representative Christopher N. Herrod, House District 62
