Ron Mortensen was a member of the advance team at the Reagan/Gorbachev meetings that marked the beginning of the end of the cold war. A certificate hangs on his wall that reads: “Ron Mortensen, for your valued assistance during my meetings with General Secretary Gorbachev in Reykjavik, Iceland,” signed Ronald Reagan, October 9-12, 1986.
